¡Olè, olè, olè, olè!... the sweet sounds of World Cup fever are sweeping the planet. In just a few days, 32 teams from across the world will go toe-to-toe for soccer's ultimate prize. Here at Away.com, we thought it would be fun to channel our World Cup fervor into a month-long challenge with our friends through the Twitterverse. Welcome to the inaugural Away.com #WorldTravelCup!

The challenge is simple: You pick a team to root for. Answer Twivia questions correctly to score a "goal." Amass goals for your team and WIN!

More Details
Who: You!
What: The Away.com #WorldTravelCup
When: June 11 – July 11
Where: daily, on Twitter (follow hashtag #WorldTravelCup)
How: Answer #WorldTravelCup questions on Twitter, earn goals for your team, battle it out until one team is crowned winner of the #WorldTravelCup. Better yet, all members of the winning team will be eligible to win one of two grand prizes, a pair of round-trip flight vouchers to anywhere in the continental U.S.! Download the complete contest terms and conditions here.

How to Get Started
1. Affiliate yourself with one of the 32 countries in our #WorldTravelCup roster by adding your team's flag to your Twitter avatar. Click here to grab a twibbon for your team of choice. Takes two seconds!

2. Declare your participation by tweeting "I'm supporting [insert country name] in the #worldtravelcup".

3. Be on the lookout for our daily Twivia questions over the next four weeks, which will be distributed via Away.com's Twitter profile @awayblog.

4. To answer a question: Tweet your response followed by the hashtag #WorldTravelCup (ex. You're a hardcore Brazil fan. @awayblog tweets: "Which country is hosting the 2010 World Cup?" You tweet: "South Africa [brazil] #WorldTravelCup").

5. Correctly answer the question and earn a "GOAL" for your team! Current team standings will be posted on our #WorldTravelCup leaderboard throughout the contest's duration.

Some Reminders
1. Make sure you're following @awayblog so you can see the questions. Otherwise, if you're using TweetDeck, HootSuite, TweetGrid, or some other third-party service, add a column to track the term #WorldTravelCup.

2. Once you have affiliated to a team, you cannot change your affiliation. However, players can join at any point during the contest period.

3. Feel free to recruit your friends to join your team.

4. Smack-talking (within reason) is encouraged!

5. Have Fun!

But Beyond the Glory and Twitterati Bragging Rights, What's Really in it for YOU?
In addition to being a fun way to flex your travel and destination knowledge on Twitter, we'll be looking to crown two members of the winning team as our #WorldTravelCup Grand Prize Winners, the MVPs if you will. Grand-prize winners will receive free round-trip flight vouchers with a street value of $350 each!
