Passports with Purpose 2010: Donate and Win Great Travel Prizes!

Today marks the kickoff of my favorite holiday fundraiser, Passports with Purpose. Started three years ago by a group of travel bloggers who wanted to give back to the world which they cover and explore, this year's online event is seeking to raise $50,000 to help build an entire village in southern India for that country's impoverished caste of "untouchables."

How can you help? Donate any amount in $10 increments to the fundraising effort, which will not only go toward the work of this year's charitable partner, LAFTI, but also put your name in the hat to win a swag bag of great travel prizes, including airfare, gear, consumer electronics, and more. The prizes have all been donated by members of the travel community, including two Delta flight vouchers for round-trip travel anywhere in the contiguous U.S. states and Canada from Away.com! Any other questions about PwP, feel free to drop me a line at: awearmouth 'at' away 'dot' com. And please, please open your wallets, purses, hearts... ahem... Swiss bank accounts for a very worthy holiday cause!

Click below the jump for the fine print.

Key Dates:
November 15 - Passports with Purpose 2010 fundraiser starts.
December 13 - Donations for prizes close at midnight PST. Note: PwP will still take donations, but you won't be entered into a drawing after December 13.
December 17 - Prize winners notified by email.

How to Take Part:
Make your donation at the PwP "Donate" page and select the prizes for which you'd like to be considered. Away.com's Delta flight vouchers can be viewed here.

Hey Alistair! Thanks for doing this! (It's Julie, Milwaukee/Madison, Sutro Media)

Hi Caitlin, thanks so much for your comment. You are correct in your clarification. Vouchers apply to travel on Delta routes in 48 contiguous US states and Canada, but could be redeemed by travelers coming to North America from around world. Will request that PwP organizer make that update.

Great prize! I'll stumble and tweet the post to help spread the word.

Would you please clarify the geographic restrictions for me first? The flight can only be redeemed in North America but is it restricted to winners who are resident in North America or could it include global citizens who are visiting the country? If it's the latter, it should really say that it's open to worldwide shipping since the voucher can be sent anywhere, just not used everywhere.

This is a great effort by some dedicated world travelers who want to help out.
